We design PinRig to work with a wide range of cameras and microphones, including gear many streamers already own. For cameras, we recommend models with clean HDMI output and solid low light performance. For audio, dynamic microphones tend to work best in pinball environments because they handle background noise well.

We recommend streaming in the highest resolution your setup can reliably support, including 4K when conditions allow. Higher resolution can deliver excellent clarity, especially for playfield detail and recorded content.
That said, 4K streaming depends heavily on your hardware performance, internet strength, and overall setup. If any part of that chain is limited, it can lead to dropped frames or an inconsistent stream.
In real-world pinball streaming, smooth motion and reliability matter more than resolution alone. A stable stream at 1080p will often look better to viewers than a 4K stream that struggles to stay consistent.
For many setups, the best approach is to stream in 4K when conditions allow, and adjust to 1080p if needed to maintain stability. Another common option is to record locally in 4K while streaming at 1080p, which gives you high-quality footage for highlights without compromising the live experience.
